Grasmere ARP

The ARP at Grasmere Academy provides education for children in Years 3-6 and runs as a unit where the children learn and grow together.

The unit is run by a qualified Teacher and highly skilled Teaching Assistants who work closely with parents/carers to provide a home from home atmosphere in which children feel safe, happy and able to flourish. We also work closely with outside agencies to make sure that targets in EHCPs are met.

Our Ethos

We respond to children’s individual needs to ensure that each child reaches their full potential.  We actively encourage the involvement of parents/carers in their child’s learning and organise a variety of opportunities over the year for parents to support and engage in their child’s learning journey.

We provide a well-planned, exciting environment which supports children in their learning and encourages them to become independent and successful. Work is carried out as a whole class, in small groups, pairs or individually.

Our team are all highly skilled, committed practitioners who use their strengths and enthusiasm to create a purposeful, caring, supportive environment for all children to learn, feel safe and reach their full potential.

Children start to learn about the world around them from the moment they are born. The care and education offered by Grasmere Academy helps children to continue to do this by providing all the children with exciting and interesting activities that are right for their age and stage of development.

As a school and an ARP we have innovated our curriculum and moved to project based learning.  Children are immersed in creative topics that are driven by essential questions and culminate in REAL life outcomes. Children showcase their learning through a variety of exhibitions to share their learning with REAL audiences.

At Grasmere Academy we will go to every length to make learning REAL and RELEVANT.

Engagement and motivation is high, because children are involved in the planning stage so they are excited about their projects. Teachers create vibrant environments through immersive classrooms that engage and stimulate learning.

All students have access to the National Curriculum alongside specialist lessons to increase independence and life skills.
