Inclusion - our mission statement

At Grasmere Academy, we believe that every child belongs, every child matters and every child deserves to thrive. Inclusion is at the heart of who we are. As a school with a strong commitment to supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), we recognise and celebrate the individual strengths, needs and experiences of every child. However, for us, inclusion goes far beyond SEND. It means creating a school community where every child feels valued, respected and understood, regardless of their background, ability, circumstances, culture, identity or starting point. It means removing barriers to learning and participation, celebrating difference and ensuring that every child has a genuine sense of belonging. We want our children to learn alongside and from one another, developing empathy, confidence, respect and an understanding that difference is something to value, not something to fear. At Grasmere, inclusion is not simply something we provide for some children; it is the way we do things for everyone.

We celebrate our achievements, gifts and cultural diversity, irrespective of individual differences within the protected categories of the Equality Act of 2020 and the Special Educational Needs and Disability Regulations 2014.
