Development of writing skills
Speaking, listening and reading underpins the development of writing skills. Our writing curriculum aims for pupils to:
Write clearly, accurately and coherently, adapting their language and style in and for a range of contexts purposes and audiences
Use discussion in order to learn; they should be able to elaborate and explain clearly their understanding and ideas
Develop transcriptional skills of spelling and handwriting
Through our exciting and engaging curriculum and a book based approach, pupils will firstly be immersed in quality text; build an understanding of the features and impact of the text; learn new skills and finally apply these skills into independent writing. We promote the development of these independent writing skills across the curriculum to help embed understanding of purpose and audience.
